Welcome to my website.
I am a full time artist and have completed many commissions, most recently a centenial celebration window, in St Peter’s, Hove (seen here on the right). I exhibit my work throughout the year and as part of Steyning Arts where I am on the committee. My work can be found mainly in private homes in England, France and Australia. As well as Stained Glass windows, I also design and produce smaller, framed Stained Glass panels that can be displayed on window sills.
My original interest was as a painter and whilst at school I had my heart set on a career in book illustration, after doing my O and A levels at Cardinal Newman I completed a Foundation year at Brighton Art College.
After bringing up my family and taking a slight diversion in my career I returned to college to study Stained Glass under the tutorage of Keith Nickels and was inspired and challenged.
Though I have now moved a little way from my interest in water colours, I do include both painted and sand blasted detail in my stained glass designs and have had to convert my garage to accommodate both a kiln and sand blaster.
From my love of illustration, I have moved towards glass as a medium because it is possible to create something truly personal and unique, when the glass is illuminated and the colours are enhanced it can be exciting and rewarding.
I am also a qualified teacher and run Stained Glass courses for new and intermediate students at various locations in Sussex including Brighton City College and The Bridge.
I hope you enjoy browsing my website. Photographing Stained Glass is not a easy task as my husband will attest, so, if you have the opportunity, please visit me when I am exhibiting.
I am always pleased to hear from people who are interested in my work. So if you have any comments, would like more information, or would like to discuss a possible commision, please feel free to call or e-mail me.
Many thanks again for taking the time to look at my work.
Debbie
